Jennifer Lawrence Confirms Directing Project

She has won an Oscar, been the face of one of the most successful film franchise's of recent years and now Jennifer Lawrence has revealed she is turning her hand to directing.

The 25-year-old has said she will be stepping behind the camera to make Project Delirium, a film about "mental warfare in the 60s".

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Lawrence said the film is a comedy about "an acid experiment gone terribly wrong".

"I've wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready," she said.

Project Delirium is based on an article published in the New Yorker called Operation Delirium in 2012.

Earlier this year Lawrence confirmed that she and comedian Amy Schumer are writing a screenplay for a film where the two will play sisters.

Lawrence is next seen in cinemas as the inventor of the Miracle Mop in David O Russell's Joy which is released in the UK on 1 January.

She collected her best actress Oscar for playing the lead in Russell's Silver Linings Playbook in 2013.

The final film in the Hunger Games series is in cinemas now.
