George Lucas has confirmed he will not be making any more Star Wars films because "all you do it get criticised".
JJ Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the first in the franchise to be made without any input from director.
Lucas received wide criticism from fans of the films for the three prequels he made about Luke Skywalker's father Anakin.
He sold his company LucasFilm to Disney in 2012 for $4bn and does not seem to have any regrets.
"You go to make a movie and all you do is get criticised, and people try to make decisions about what you’re going to do before you do it," Lucas told Vanity Fair.
"And it’s not much fun. You can't experiment. You have to do it a certain way. I don't like that, I never did. I started out in experimental films and I want to go back to experimental films."
However, he said he does have some concerns about The Force Awakens' content and said "I'm curious that the Force doesn't get muddled into a bunch of gobbledygook".
And in a dig at those who have slated his prequel trilogy films, he revealed that the character he would most like to be is Jar Jar Binks.
The much-ridiculed Gungun came to symbolise everything fans thought was wrong with Lucas' films.
Lucas also revealed that he is making more films but not ones that anyone will see.
