“Look at the numbers: on the assists they speak for him,” he said. “He is a complete player. I have not seen many of that quality. I don’t like to compare players but he is exceptional and you have also to give me credit. I always defended that point of view, even when you were sceptical. What is important is that he becomes the best he can be. He is on the way. He has become a completely sensational player. He is one of the best in Europe.”
Mesut Ozil celebrates scoring Arsenal's second
Asked if Ozil reminded him of Bergkamp, who helped inspire Arsenal to three Premier League titles and was rated by fans as the second greatest player in the club’s history, Wenger said: “Yes. Bergkamp was more a goalscorer and he was more of an assists man but now he becomes more of a goalscorer so they really are comparable.
“He has remarkable technical quality and something I also enjoy very much is the timing of his passes. If you think in the stand ‘give the ball now’, it is now. You have not finished your thinking and the ball has gone. He is somebody who thinks always as the song leader with the right tone. That is difficult to achieve as the decision you have to make is so quick.”

Cech, who Wenger signed last summer from Chelsea for £10 million, also broke the all-time Premier League record for clean sheets yesterday, passing David James's landmark of 169. Wenger said that Cech was up with Seaman among both the club’s greatest goalkeepers and also the best to have played in England.

“He can be very proud – it is a remarkable achievement,” said Wenger. “People don't realise how much commitment is behind that and also how much focus and consistency in his attitude. He's a remarkably consistent goalkeeper and that is the most difficult achievement for somebody.”
Wenger also confirmed that Mathieu Flamini could return from an ankle injury against Newcastle on Saturday and that Kieran Gibbs, who was substituted, had suffered only cramp in his calf. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is hopeful of adding to his squad in January but said that his players had “unbreakable” resolve and could survive in the Premier League with no new signings.
