Scott Weiland, the former frontman of the bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, has died at the age of 48.
The singer's manager, Tom Vitorino, confirmed his death, saying he was told by Weiland's tour manager.
He did not provide any further details.
Weiland was due to play a concert in Medina, Minnesota with his current band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, according to the venue's website.
The page has since been updated to say the concert has been cancelled.
Weiland rose to fame as the lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots, but his career was dogged by substance abuse problems.
The band, whose hits included Interstate Love Song, Plush and Vasoline, split up in 2003.
Weiland went on to form Velvet Revolver, which included former Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum.
The band released two albums, and their hits included Fall To Pieces and Slither.
Weiland left Velvet Revolver in 2008 to return to Stone Temple Pilots, but the band broke up again in 2013.
