Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr has been pardoned for drug and gun crimes he committed nearly 20 years ago.
The 50-year-old actor was caught with cocaine, heroin and a concealed pistol when he was stopped for speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles County in 1996.
He was later jailed for one year and three months for violating his probation.
Downey was among 91 people granted pardons by California Governor Jerry Brown on Thursday, after demonstrating they had rehabilitated themselves and been out of custody for at least 10 years.
The pardon is largely a symbolic gesture that keeps the actor's criminal record, but restores his right to serve on a jury.
