Steve Coogan Banned From Driving After Speeding

Steve Coogan has been banned from driving after doing almost double the speed limit in his sports car last year.

The actor and comedian was driving his Mazda MX-5 SE at 54mph in a 30mph zone in Black Rock, Brighton, on 14 October.

A Sussex Police spokesman said he was disqualified from driving for 28 days at Worthing Magistrates' Court.

The 50-year-old star, who lives in Greenways, Ovingdean, did not attend the hearing but entered a guilty plea through his solicitor.

He was also fined £670, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £67 and costs of £85.

Earlier this month it was confirmed that Sky Atlantic is to air the third series of Coogan and Rob Brydon's award-winning show The Trip.

The Trip To Spain sees the pair's characters back on their culinary quest as they head off on a road trip from the North Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast.

Coogan said: "Having thought long and hard about yet another sojourn into culinary distractions and middle age, I have reluctantly agreed to Eviva Espana. I have a hole in my diary, there will be free food and accommodation and Rob Brydon is surprisingly good company."
