Watch Google Robot Bounce Back After Fall

Incredible footage shows Google's new robot being pushed over by a human - then getting right back up.

Boston Dynamics - a subsidiary of Google parent company Alphabet - has released video of the new version of its humanoid robot called Atlas.

It shows the 175cm-tall Atlas stepping out from a line-up of other robots, before walking off and pushing open a door to go outside.

It successfully walks over bumpy, snow-covered terrain, before strolling side-by-side with one of the developers.

After showing off its strength by lifting two 10-pound boxes onto some shelves, a man knocks a box out of its hands to see how it reacts.

But it's not a problem for Atlas, which goes to pick it up and carry on with its tasks.

Perhaps the most impressive moment in the clip is when Atlas is shoved over - falling flat on its front.

For most robots, that would be game over - but Atlas uses its arms to thrust itself back onto its feet before walking off.

A previous version of Atlas struggled at the recent "robolympics" - the DARPA Robotics Challenge - when it fell repeatedly and needed a crane to get up.

Atlas uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles and assess terrain.
