The Football Association and the French Football Federation will liaise before deciding if Tuesday's friendly between England and France will take place.
French newspaper L'Equipe has reported that the friendly match at Wembley Stadium has already been postponed.
Three people were killed in an attack near the Stade de France on Friday, while at least 40 people died in multiple shootings in Paris.
France were playing Germany in a friendly when an explosion was heard.
"It is a very serious and tragic matter," said an FA spokesman. "If there is any update on the match on Tuesday we will announce in due course.
"The FA sends its deep condolences to the victims of this tragic event but to say anything else would be inappropriate."
French President Francois Hollande has declared a state of emergency and closed the country's borders.
