Spielberg Wants Ford To Make Fifth Jones Film

Steven Spielberg has said he would love to make a fifth Indiana Jones before its star, Harrison Ford turns 80.

The Hollywood director told French radio station RTL that he was keen to create another adventure for the archaeologist who first hit the big screen 34 years ago in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

"I am hoping one day to make it to an Indiana Jones V. I would hope to make it before Harrison Ford is 80 and I get much older," said Spielberg, who is 68.

Ford, who is 73, survived crash-landing his vintage World War II trainer plane on a Santa Monica golf course in March.

He is due to appear as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens which is released on 17 December.

There had been speculation that Shia LaBeouf, who played Jones' sidekick in the most recent Indiana Jones film, the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull in 2008, might take up the hero's whip.

But Spielberg's comments - made during an interview about his latest film, Cold War thriller Bridge Of Spies - seemed to indicate that Ford could be tempted back again.

Last month the producer on the films, Frank Marshall, confirmed that the role will only ever be played by Ford.

We are "not doing the Bond thing where we're going to call somebody else Indiana Jones", he said.

Meanwhile Spielberg, who made classics as Jaws, ET and Schindler's List, said he still feels he has a lot to learn.

"After 40 years I don't feel as experienced as people might assume," he told RTL. "I still feel I am learning and I am really excited by new projects."

Spielberg said he was finishing a screen version of Roald Dahl's much-loved children's book The BFG, with British actor Mark Rylance, which is due to be released next July.
