What time does England vs France kick off, what TV channel is it on and what are the words to French national anthem La Marseillaise?

What time does the game start?

It might not be at the forefront of most people's minds, but there is actually a football match on this evening. England and France meet at Wembley and while most of the world's attention will be focused on the pre-match tributes to people killed in the Paris terror attacks last week, the game itself begins at 8pm GMT.

The stage is set for an emotional night at Wembley

Is the match on TV?

You can watch the pre-match build-up and all the live action on ITV 1 from 7.30pm. The highlights are also on ITV 1 at 10.55pm.

What's the background to the game?

England and France's 92-year-old football rivalry will witness its most solemn chapter at Wembley when the teams unite in solidarity four days after the Paris terror attacks.

Friday's attacks touched football particularly closely, with three suicide bombers blowing themselves up outside the Stade de France as France played Germany in a friendly.

The cousin of France midfielder Lassana Diarra was one of the 129 people killed in the attacks, while the sister of his team-mate Antoine Griezmann escaped unhurt from the assault on the Bataclan concert hall.

Tuesday's match is now being seen as an opportunity to put on a united front.

What tributes are being planned for the Paris attack victims?

The tributes began the day after the terror attacks in Paris which left 129 people dead and many more seriously injured. The Wembley arch was lit up in the colours of the French tricolore - a gesture repeated at iconic buildings around the world - and the word's 'Libert, Egalite, Fraternite' beamed onto the outside of the stadium. A minute's silence was also held at England's training base before their training session on Monday.

Wembley's famous arch will be lit up red, white and blue

On matchday itself, in a break with usual protocol, the England national anthem will be played first - at around 7.55pm - and La Marseillaise will then follow, with the words shown on the big screen so fans can join in.

Fans will also hold up a mosaic of cards in the colours of the tricolore. Just before kick-off, there will also be a minute's silence and the two captains - Wayne Rooney and Hugo Lloris - will lay wreaths in memory of the victims. Both sets of players will wear black armbands. The Duke of Cambridge will attend the match out of "solidarity to the people of France".

ITV have also decided not to run adverts immediately before the game. The broadcaster would usually cut to a brief break after the national anthems ahead of kick-off, but will stay with their live feed from Wembley on Tuesday.

ITV follow French broadcaster TF1, which is showing the game live in France, with L'Equipe reporting it would not run adverts after the anthems as a mark of respect.

What are the words to La Marseillaise?

Full lyrics with translation

Allons enfants de la Patrie

Arise, children of the Fatherland

Le jour de gloire est arrivé!

The day of glory has arrived!

Contre nous de la tyrannie

Against us tyranny's

L'étendard sanglant est levé

Bloody banner is raised,(repeat)

Entendez-vous dans les campagnes

Do you hear, in the countryside

Mugir ces féroces soldats?

The roar of those ferocious soldiers?

Ils viennent jusque dans nos bras

They're coming right into our arms

Égorger nos fils, nos compagnes

To cut the throats of our sons, our women!

Aux armes, citoyens

To arms, citizens

Formez vos bataillons

Form your battalions

Marchons, marchons!

Let's march, let's march!

Qu'un sang impur!

Let an impure blood

Abreuve nos sillons!

Water our furrows! (Repeat)

Que veut cette horde d'esclaves

What does this horde of slaves

De traîtres, de rois conjurés

Of traitors and conspiratorial kings want?

Pour qui ces ignobles entraves

For whom are these vile chains

Ces fers dès longtemps préparés?

These long-prepared irons? (repeat)

Français, pour nous, ah! quel outrage

Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage

Quels transports il doit exciter!

What fury it must arouse!

C'est nous qu'on ose méditer

It is us they dare plan

De rendre à l'antique esclavage!

To return to the old slavery!

Aux armes, citoyens...

To arms, citizens...

Quoi ! des cohortes étrangères

What! Foreign cohorts

Feraient la loi dans nos foyers!

Would make the law in our homes!

Quoi ! Ces phalanges mercenaires

What! These mercenary phalanxes

Terrasseraient nos fiers guerriers

Would strike down our proud warriors! (repeat)

Grand Dieu! Par des mains enchaînées

Great God! By chained hands

Nos fronts sous le joug se ploieraient

Our brows would yield under the yoke

De vils despotes deviendraient

Vile despots would have themselves

Les maîtres de nos destinées!

The masters of our destinies!

Aux armes, citoyens...

To arms, citizens...

Tremblez, tyrans et vous perfides

Tremble, tyrants and you traitors

L'opprobre de tous les partis

The shame of all parties

Tremblez ! vos projets parricides

Tremble! Your parricidal schemes

Vont enfin recevoir leurs prix !

Will finally receive their reward! (repeat)

Tout est soldat pour vous combattre

Everyone is a soldier to combat you

S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros

If they fall, our young heroes

La terre en produit de nouveaux

The earth will produce new ones

Contre vous tout prêts à se battre!

Ready to fight against you!

Aux armes, citoyens...

To arms, citizens...

Français, en guerriers magnanimes

Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors

Portez ou retenez vos coups!

Bear or hold back your blows!

Épargnez ces tristes victimes

Spare those sorry victims

À regret s'armant contre nous

Who arm against us with regret. (repeat)

Mais ces despotes sanguinaires

But not these bloodthirsty despots

Mais ces complices de Bouillé

These accomplices of Bouillé

Tous ces tigres qui, sans pitié

All these tigers who, mercilessly

Déchirent le sein de leur mère!

Rip their mother's breast!

Aux armes, citoyens...

To arms, citizens...

Amour sacré de la Patrie

Sacred love of the Fatherland

Conduis, soutiens nos bras vengeurs

Lead, support our avenging arms

Liberté, Liberté chérie

Liberty, cherished Liberty

Combats avec tes défenseurs!

Fight with thy defenders! (repeat)

Sous nos drapeaux que la victoire

Under our flags, may victory

Accoure à tes mâles accents

Hurry to thy manly accents,

Que tes ennemis expirants

May thy expiring enemies,

Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire!

See thy triumph and our glory!

Aux armes, citoyens...

To arms, citizens..

Are there extra security measures in place?

Yes. Fans are being told to arrive early for the match so that extra security checks and what organisers are calling "extensive" searches can be performed at the turnstyles.

More armed police will patrol Wembley tonight

Fans are being asked not to bring bags where possible. Armed police will provide additional patrols around Wembley to protect the expected 80,000-strong crowd, which will include around 1,400 French fans. No tickets will be on sale on the day.

England players plan to honour Paris victims

Team news

Dele Alli is expected to be awarded his first start for England, possibly even in an advanced midfield role behind striker Wayne Rooney, with Jesse Lingard also likely to feature against France.

Lingard, 22, was called into a depleted senior squad for the first time after both Jamie Vardy - who was due to start at Wembley - and Michael Carrick withdrew through injury. It means Roy Hodgson, the England manager, is without at least 15 players who are under consideration for his European Championship squad.

Roy Hodgson has decisions to make over his team

Eric Dier could also start, alongside Jonjo Shelvey, who is certain to feature, in midfield.

Hodgson is poised to replace the central defensive pairing of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling with John Stones and Gary Cahill.

Hodgson has to decide which of Ross Barkley, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling - who all started in Alicante - he can also field against France, with whoever plays unlikely to complete the 90 minutes.

Ross Barkley is likely to start against France

The manager will also have to consider whether to rest goalkeeper Joe Hart, who captained the team against Spain, to give further experience to his impressive understudy, Jack Butland.

Nathaniel Clyne is expected to come in at right-back with Kieran Gibbs under consideration for the other flank if Hodgson makes wholesale changes. It means England might field a hugely inexperienced team against the French.

Likely line-ups

England (4-3-1-2): Hart (Manchester City); Clyne (Liverpool), Stones (Everton), Cahill (Chelsea), GIbbs (Arsenal); Dier (Tottenham); Alli (Tottenham), Shelvey (Swansea); Barkley (Everton); Rooney (Manchester United), Kane (Tottenham).

France (4-4-2): Lloris (Tottenham); Sagna (Manchester City), Varane (Real Madrid), Koscielny (Arsenal), Digne (Roma); Cabaye (Crystal Palace), Schneiderlin (Manchester United), Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain), Ben Arfa (Nice); Gignac (Tigres), Martial (Manchester United).

• Who makes our England-France combined XI?

What are they saying?

"I'm happy the game's on. It shows France wants to show these terrorists they're standing strong against them, and we have to support that. It will be a great night of togetherness for everyone to see, for the terrorists to see the world will go on and stand against them."
Wayne Rooney, England captain

"We will sing the anthem together and share in that moment. It will be sung by a great number of English people as well, which will make it stronger. I know the English very well and I know they're very respectful as far as this kind of event is concerned. I know they'll help us to commemorate. This game is a good opportunity to represent the French nation. The French nation is more important than French football tomorrow."
Hugo Lloris, France captain

What are the odds?

England 6/4
France 9/5
Draw 21/10

What's our prediction?

France to win 2-1.
