Aston Villa launch bid to sign Chelsea's Loic Remy

Remi Garde has launched an ambitious bid to sign Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

Garde wants to agree a loan deal with last season's Premier League champions for Remy as he moves to strengthen his struggling squad.

Remy, 28, has only made one league start for Chelsea this season and could move in the January window, with Crystal Palace also interested in the France international.

But Garde knows Remy from his time at Lyon and is determined to bring in firepower for Villa next month, with the bottom club the lowest scorers in the league.

He said: ‎"Loic is a guy I know well, he would be an interesting player for the team. I can't tell you (our chances of signing him).

"He is part of some players I am trying to attract to Aston Villa, for sure. Loic is quite a special one, he knows the country, the league. I also have some targets that would be this level maybe without knowing the country and the league.

"The situation is not the best one you could dream of to speak with players. But what I have done already doesn’t show me that nobody wants to join this football club."

Villa crashed to their 13th defeat of the season against Norwich on Monday and are rooted to the bottom of the league.
