Former MTV reality star Kristin Cavallari has said her missing brother is dead.
She said authorities had told her they found the body of Michael Cavallari, whose car was discovered empty on a dirt road in Utah last month.
"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," Cavallari, 28, said in a statement to E! News and People magazine.
"We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found.
"This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all."
Grand County Sheriff's Office in Utah said remains believed to be Cavallari’s were found by search crews at 10:30am on Thursday.
The body is being taken to the state medical examiner for identification, said the sheriff.
On 27 November a rancher found 30-year-old Cavallari's Honda Civic with the engine still running and the air bag deployed.
His laptop and mobile phone were also in the vehicle, which appeared to have hit a large rock on the side of the road.
Cavallari is thought to have been trying to get to Illinois, according to the Missing Persons of America website.
Four days before his car was discovered, he was arrested in California on an allegation of making threats.
A woman had called 911 to say an armed Cavallari was outside her apartment.
Police said Cavallari had a loaded shotgun in his car boot when arrested.
He was bailed out of jail on 25 November.
His younger sister rose to fame after she was cast in the MTV reality series Laguna Beach while still in high school.
The show ran for three seasons and ended in 2006.
She then starred in the spin-off series The Hills.
Kristin Cavallari married Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in November 2013 and the couple have three children.
