The makers of the upcoming Absolutely Fabulous film have been accused of racism after casting a white actress to play a Japanese fashion designer.
Janette Tough, from the 1980s Scottish comedy duo The Krankies, plays the character Huki Muki and has recently been seen filming scenes with Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders.
Korean-American comedian Margaret Cho tweeted that she is f***ing sick of yellowface" and went on to name the film specifically in a series of posts.
"Have some respect. Hire Asian actors 4 Asian roles. I'm not going to name the production but I'm DISGUSTED!.
"#YELLOWFACE is racism. Sorry. It's unacceptable. Not now. I was thrilled about #abfabmovie but now I just can't be. I'm very disappointed," Cho continued.
Sky News has contacted both Tough and the film's makers for a comment.
The film industry has been accused of racial stereotyping in a number of instances recently.
Cameron Crowe's film Aloha was criticised for "whitewashing" after casting Emma Stone as a character who was part Chinese.
Native Hawaiians were also disapproving of the fact that the film did not accurately reflect the diverse ethnicity of the island's residents.
"It's hard enough to get into film and TV as a person of color - and when roles written for us are played by white actors - it's an outrage," Cho tweeted.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is released on 1 July.
