Golden Globes: Strong Showing For Brit Nominees

British performers are getting a strong showing in the Golden Globe nominations in Hollywood.

Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance for Wolf Hall, Idris Elba for Luther, Joanna Froggett for Downton Abbey, David Oyelowo for Nightingale and Sam Smith for the Spectre song are all in the running for the coveted awards.

The historical drama Wolf Hall, based on the novel by Hilary Mantel has received three nominations.

Maggie Smith has been nominated for her starring role in Alan Bennett's The Lady In The Van, while Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren have also been shortlisted for best supporting actress in a drama.

Saoirse Ronan is in contention for the best performance by an actress in a motion picture drama, for her role in Brooklyn.
