Manchester United transfer news and rumours: £10m bid lined up for Yoshinori Muto

Manchester United aren’t tremendously well-stocked up front at the moment, with Wayne Rooney’s light fading and Javier Hernandez, Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao shipped out over summer.

Radamel Falcao: Now not scoring goals for Chelsea instead of United

Enter Yoshinori Muto. The excellently-named Japanese forward is being tracked by United and will be the subject of a £10m big in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Muto was rumoured to be off to Chelsea last summer but instead joined German side Mainz from FC Tokyo. He scored 26 in 56 with the J-League side and has managed seven in 16 league starts in Germany. “Decent,” you are thinking.

January transfer window opens in

So are United, who have apparently sent scouts to watch Muro on a number of occasions already this season. What’s more, Sir Alex Ferguson liked him. But then, Sir Alex Ferguson liked David Moyes…

Back to the less exciting world of defenders, and news from The Express that United’s interest in Wolfsburg man Ricardo Rodriguez may end in disappointment.

Rodriguez, a Switzerland international, is a left-back who would be brought in to bolster United’s options in light of Luke Shaw’s long-term absence.

Who could replace Van Gaal as United manager?

United were expected to bid £30m for the left-back in January, but it now looks like Real Madrid are going to gobble up the defender to compete with Marcelo. If £30m looks a bit steep, it’s worth noting that Rodriguez signed a new deal with Wolfsburg recently which ties him to the club until 2019.

Elsewhere, there’s more disruption from those pesky “other football clubs”, with “news” from Inside Futbnol that Fenerbahce are going to make a firm bid for a United target.

Valencia manager Gary Neville may sell Feghouli

That target is Sofiane Feghouli, the 25-year-old Valencia winger from the nation of Algeria. United, Spurs and Inter Milan have all been linked with Feghouli, but Fenerbahce are now favourites on account of their willingness to give Gary Neville loads of money for the player in January.

It’s a Boxing Day miracle!
