Chelsea transfer news and rumours: Chelsea poised to make £15million swoop for Oumar Niasse

Chelsea have found themselves struggling for goals this season, but Roman Abramovich could be about to resolve that problem by splurging upwards of £15million on Lokomotiv Moscow’s Senegalese starlet Oumar Niasse.

Whilst Manchester United prepare to launch a £40million bid to sign his compatriot Sadio Mane, who has made his unhappiness at current club Southampton clear for all to see, Chelsea are hoping to pick up more of a bargain in signing Niasse for around half of that figure.

Oumar Niasse is one of Chelsea's top transfer targets

An industrious, hard-working team player, who began his career out on the wing before finding himself deployed in more of a central position, Niasse has been in red-form this season, scoring eight goals in fifteen matches for the club.

And as FourFourTwo report, Niasse is used to being scouted by English clubs.

He has previously said: "Chelsea scouts came to see me four times, and Tottenham scouts came six times, before I moved to Lokomotiv. I know that they still are in touch with my agent."

The forward has also claimed that Chelsea have long courted his interest, and that he nearly signed for the Blues amid interest from recently sacked manager Jose Mourinho.

“Mourinho was very keen to sign me, but unfortunately he was fired,” he commented recently. “I am trying not to get distracted. But if there will be a specific offer, I might leave Lokomotiv."

His Lokomotiv team-mate, Aleksandr Samedov, has also admitted Niasse could soon leave for England, telling local media that: “Niasse is incredibly good. I didn't expect him to perform at such a high level this season. He dreams of playing in the Premier League."

Meanwhile, SportsVibe last night reported that PSG have informed Chelsea they will have to part with £59million sweet English pounds if they want to acquire the services of their Italian central midfielder, Marco Verratti.

Is Verratti one of our top 50 transfer targets?

The star, who is often compared with former Barcelona midfielder Xavi, has long been a target of Chelsea, and the club are believed to have had a bid for him rejected in the past.

And PSG seem determined to ward off any interest in the player, who has only just returned from a lengthy injury lay-off, by attaching the huge price tag to him.

And finally, Loic Remy has been attracting interest from a large number of Premier League clubs, but Newcastle’s Steve McClaren has been rather less forthcoming in his interest in the striker than Aston Villa’s Remi Garde.

January transfer window closes in

Newcastle have been rumoured to be preparing a loan move to bring Remy back to St James’ Park.

But when asked if club was interested, McClaren simply said: ‘We can’t disclose that.”
