Mark Noble has shown himself to be one of the Premier League's shrewdest midfield operators with one of the finest pieces of opportunism of 2016 so far.
However despite the momentous result the main talking point from the afternoon was Mark Noble's thrifty decision to take advantage of a wayward plastic bag being blown across the pitch.
The former England under-21 international proudly flaunted his bizarre acquisition in a post-match tweet in the West Ham changing rooms.

Given Noble's man of the match performance against Liverpool some fans suggested Mark Noble should insist on playing the rest of his Premier League career with a carrier bag stowed in his underpants.
@Noble16Mark should carry that paper bag on him every game if it makes him play like that. #Womble #COYI #MoM #MN16

Mark Noble posed for a celebratory photo with celebrity Hammer James Corden after the culmination to the match.
The West Ham captain was reluctantly accompanied by Liverpool fan, John Bishop, who's side now sit five points adrift of the Champions League places.

West Ham's victory over Liverpool sends them fifth in the Premier League table. Goals from Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio were enough to dent Liverpool's slim hopes of a top-four finish.
Speaking to BBC London radio Mark Noble described the win over Liverpool as a '"fantastic achievement."
"We got our goals and defended really well as we expected to do against a top team, and we got the win," said Noble.
