A MYSTERIOUS illness that made at least six people sick on a flight from London to Los Angeles earlier in the week is currently under investigations by the airline.
About two and a half hours into American Airlines Flight 109’s 10 hour flight, the aircraft crew reported that a number of passengers and crew were sick.
The source of the illness is still unclear, but passengers told The Telegraph that luggage was removed for inspection with no reason given.
At least one member of the crew reportedly fainted, while five other crew members and three passengers reported feeling ill.
As the flight approached Ireland, the pilots made the decision to turn the plane around to return to Heathrow Airport — 1600km away.
Emergency services, including the hazmat gear, treated and released six people who were feeling ill.
Maintenance engineers are currently inspecting the aircraft.

Several passengers reported feeling dizzy and a loss of equilibrium during the incident, which could point to a loss of air pressure in the cabin.
Passenger Eric Winter posted about the incident to Twitter, where he commended the staff for their work.
The @AmericanAir staff along the way has been nothing short of phenomenal handling this. Stoked to be a long-time flyer. #TrustedBrand
