One Direction fans have been congratulating Louis Tomlinson after he welcomed a baby boy with stylist Briana Jungwirth.
Tomlinson announced the birth on Twitter, telling fans: "I'm pleased to say my baby son was born yesterday. He is healthy and pretty amazing. I'm very happy."
The announcement and two follow-up tweets quickly notched up more than a million likes and #CongratulationsLouis topped the social network's worldwide trending chart.
Tomlinson, 24, briefly dated Los Angeles-based Jungwirth in May 2015 after breaking up with his long term girlfriend Eleanor Calder.
News of the pregnancy emerged in August, although there has never been an official statement.
In a radio interview shortly afterwards, his fellow band member Liam Payne confirmed the news, saying: "Well, obviously I was a bit shocked but he's taken super well to it."
Tomlinson then responded to an interviewer's congratulations about his impending fatherhood on Good Morning America.
He said: "Thank you, obviously it's a really exciting time, so I'm buzzing, thank you."
He is the first member of One Direction to become a father.
No name has yet been disclosed for his son.
