Remi Garde insists a victory over Wycombe Wanderers could prove the catalyst for Aston Villa to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Garde is targeting his first win as Villa manager this weekend and desperately searching for a positive in a sorry season.
Villa are facing another potentially awkward afternoon in front of the TV cameras and an exit from the FA Cup to League Two opponents would condemn the strugglers to further humiliation.
Alan Hutton has added to the lengthy injury list after suffering a hamstring problem which could rule him out for three weeks, joining Adama Traore and Carlos Sanchez on the sidelines.

But Garde has challenged his players to lift the gloom and believes a victory may provide the springboard to an unlikely great escape from the drop.
“I am not going into the game thinking about losing but I am also not expecting any gifts,” he said.
“I don’t feel like this is a release from the pressures of the league because we are still affected about the situation of the club.
“But of course it could be a very good feeling for us if we could win this game. A win is something that hasn’t happened for a long time and it could be the beginning of better feelings among the players and the club. It could be a big boost for us.”
Villa are rooted to the bottom of the league and have only secured two wins all season – their last victory was against deadly enemies Birmingham in September’s Capital One Cup tie.
Garde has hinted that he may move skipper Micah Richards to right-back after Hutton’s injury.
