The ceremony, hosted by Stephen Fry, will see British star Eddie Redmayne, 34, do battle with American heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio, 41, for the leading actor gong.
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, wearing Burberry, said: "I am freezing. I am so cold."
Ronan, who is nominated in the Best Actress category for her film Brooklyn - which sees her character move from Ireland to New York - said: "It was really strange that there was no separation in her journey compared to mine."
Steve Jobs stars Kate Winslet and Michael Fassbender are both nominated and told Sky News they will be rooting for each other tonight.
"In it to win it baby," Winslet said, with her hands raised in fists. She then added that she wasn't "feeling remotely positive" about winning the best supporting actress prize.
Fassbender is up against favourite DiCaprio and Winslet said: "It's a rubbish year to be nominated in the best actor category."
But a humble Fassbender said he just "felt lucky to be there" and "Leo is a one-off talent".
