Hudgens Dedicates Grease Show To Late Father

Actress Vanessa Hudgens dedicated her performance in Grease Live! on Sunday night to her father who died on Saturday.

The star tweeted on Sunday morning: "I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers.

"Tonight, I do the show in his honor," she added.

Grease Live! was an ambitious three-hour production, broadcast live from 14 different sets at Warner Bros Studios.

Hudgens played Rizzo in the show, which featured Julianne Hough and Aaron Tveit as Sandy and Danny.

The musical opened with an elaborate, continuous shot of Jessie J singing Grease (is the word) as she roamed the vast soundstage before stepping into the drizzle.

Boys II Men punctuated her performance with a cameo, and the crooners returned later in the show to sing Beauty School Dropout.

Original Grease stars Didi Conn, who played Frenchy, and Barry Pearl, who co-starred as Doody, also made cameos.

Conn played a waitress at the Frosty Palace, where the new Frenchy (Carly Rae Jepsen) comes to a realisation about high school.

The show proved popular with fans on social media, with many praising dancer Hough's singing voice and the way the cast adapted to the wet conditions.

Actress Anna Kendrick tweeted throughout the show and declared: "This is the role @juliannehough's ass was born to play #GreaseLive."
