NBA star Shaquille O'Neal posts video in support of Northampton Town

Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has posted a video backing Northampton Town as the Midlands club bid to win promotion from League Two this season.

The Cobblers are sitting five points clear at the top of the table and the four-time NBA champion said he would like to visit the team's Sixfields Stadium for a game in the future.

The 7ft 1in O'Neal, known simply as 'Shaq' for most of his career, co-owns a radio station in the United States with Kelvin Thomas, the new chairman of the Cobblers.

In a 30-second video clip, the former LA Laker said: "I just wanted to wish Kelvin and all the Cobblers best of luck. First place is where I like to be and it's great to see you guys at the top.

"Looking forward to coming to Sixfields at some point to see a match.

"Keep grinding guys, I know you're going to be the champs."
