TV Series Casts Doubt On Craig's Future As Bond

Daniel Craig has been linked to a new US television series, casting further doubt on his future as James Bond.

Craig has been tipped to take the lead in the series Purity, an adaptation of a Jonathan Franzen novel.

Twenty episodes of Purity have been ordered so far, so playing the role would likely make the 47-year-old too busy to return as Bond.

There has been no confirmation that he will bow out of the hit franchise, but the reports come months after Craig told Time Out magazine he would rather "slash my wrists" than play the role again.

However, he later told Sky News he was yet to make up his mind about another film, which will be the 25th in the series.

"I don't know, that's the simplest answer I can give. I just don't know. At this moment I am enjoying this," he told Sky's Lucy Cotter.

"I'm honestly not giving it any thought, it's just not on my agenda at the moment."

Craig first appeared as Bond 10 years ago in Casino Royal.

His fourth film, Spectre, became the second highest-grossing film at the UK box office in 2015 after Star Wars.

At the world premiere of Spectre in October the producers told Sky News they did not want to see Craig follow in the footsteps of director Sam Mendes who has confirmed he will not return for the next film.

Speaking at the screening at London's Royal Albert Hall, Michael G Wilson said "he's our man," while Barbara Broccoli said: "We're going to figure it out. We're not going to let him go."
