A HIGH-FLYING financier who quit her job to travel the world has become an internet sensation.

Kiersten Rich turned her back on the corporate world five years ago and has now racked up 50 countries on her passport stamps.

Her travel blog, The Blonde Abroad, now has 120,000 followers and she’s even getting paid for her jetsetting lifestyle.

The 27-year-old Californian has trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, volunteered in Honduras, climbed Mt. Huashan in China and met starfish in Panama.

But she admits the first two years were tough, as she had to finance her travels herself and she said she imagined that “nobody would read her blog”.

But she added: “I worked my butt off, learned from the criticisms as well as the compliments and was open to evolving my brand to better connect with my audience.”

The American adventurer has now built up such a business that she employs a fulltime content director, a social media guru and a Pinterest expert.

She makes her money by promoting products and places as she travels the world, funded by tourism boards and travel companies.

But the blonde beauty admits there is one drawback to the globetrotting — romance is off the cards.

She doesn’t have a home, either. After spending only six weeks in California and less than three months in the States last year, she says property is not high on her priority list.

But in case you fancied following in Kierston’s well-travelled footsteps, she has a word of advice.

She said: “If you want to start a blog to support your travels, you will most likely fail.

“Begin with pure intentions, hard work and perseverance. So long as, in the end, you continue to love what you do you have succeeded.”
