A YOUNG Italian girl has reportedly died during a flight to Germany after suffering a “medical emergency”.
The nine-year-old was a passenger on Lufthansa’s Airbus A340-600 jet flying from Shanghai, China to Munich when she stopped breathing.
The aircraft made an emergency landing at Yemelyanovo International Airport in Krasnoyark, Russia in a desperate bid to get urgent medical care for the girl.
But despite attempts to save her, the nine-year-old was pronounced dead by doctors at the airport, news agency TASS reports.
A spokesperson for the West Siberian department of Russia’s Investigative Committee said the child was an ethnic Chinese and had Italian citizenship.
“The child was not breathing and had no pulse. The doctors tried to bring her back to life but to no avail,” the spokesperson said.
The identity of the child and her condition on boarding the aircraft, are not yet known.
German outlet PZ News reports she suffered a pre-existing condition.
