A group, including some of Apple's biggest tech competitors, has come together to support its refusal to unlock an iPhone to assist an FBI investigation.
The Reuters news agency cited sources as confirming a joint legal brief backing Apple's stance was being prepared on behalf of 17 companies, including Google and Microsoft, ahead of an appeal by Apple that would force it to create software to unlock the iPhone.
The case relates to the killing of 14 people in San Bernardino, California, in December and a failure by investigators to access one of the killer's phones.
