Come tax time, we are painfully reminded of just how much we contribute to the smooth functioning of our society, but just where does all that income tax collected at this time of year go?
In his fiscal outlook last November, Finance Minister Bill Morneau released the most up-to-date figures for the 2014-15 year. That showed the federal government took in $282.3 billion in the year to March 31, 2015.
Almost half that money came from personal income tax. Our pie charts show you where those tax dollars came from and how they were divvied up.
