THE Brisbane Bullets will today unveil NBL star Daniel Kickert and Boomers guard Adam Gibson as the reborn club’s first player signings.
The Bullets are in advanced negotiations with former Cairns import Torrey Craig for the 2016-17 season.
Kickert, 32, was in the All-NBL First team last season after starring for minor premiers Melbourne United.
Kickert hails from Melbourne but spent the first eight years of his professional career playing in Italy, Spain, Poland and the Ukraine.
The 208cm power forward returned to Australia to play for United in the 2014-2015 season when he was the NBL’s most accurate three-point shooter (51 per cent).
In 2015-16 he fell four free throws short of being the first player in NBL history to finish with a 50-40-90 (field goal/three-point/free-throw) per cent shooting record.
Kickert, who represented the Boomers at the 2006 world championships, enjoyed a successful four-season stint at St Mary’s in the US where he finished as the college’s all-time highest scorer. He eventually lost the St Mary’s scoring record to Boomers star and current Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova.
He is understood to have signed a two-year deal with the Bullets who see Kickert as a cornerstone of their roster.
Craig, 25, was an important part of Cairns’ run to the NBL grand final in 2014-15, with the athletic small forward leading the Taipans in rebounding.
The 198cm Craig primarily played as Cairns’ sixth man with his dynamic defence and ability to take the ball to the rim a feature.
Gibson was part of Brisbane’s 2006-07 championship-winning team and an Olympian in 2012.
