Prince Band To Play Again After Star's Death

The band that played with late musician Prince during his Purple Rain era say they plan to reunite and perform again "soon".

Revolution made the announcement in a video posted on Facebook and Twitter.

Guitarist Wendy Melvoin said they "have decided after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince that we would like to come out and do some shows."

The band, who come from Prince's home town of Minneapolis, played with him from 1979 on albums and tours, including Purple Rain and 1999, before splitting up in the mid-'80s.

Sales of Prince records have soared since he was found dead aged 57 on 21 April.

The cause of his death remains a mystery.

He was discovered in an elevator at his Paisley Park Studios compound in Minneapolis by members of staff who had seen him alive 12 hours earlier.

His brother-in-law Maurice Phillips has claimed he had worked non-stop for six days before his death.

Speaking after a private family service, he said: "He worked 154 hours straight. I was with him just last weekend. He was a good brother-in-law."

Authorities have said there were "no obvious signs of trauma" on Prince's body and they had "no reason to believe" he had taken his own life.
