Axl Rose Vows 'To Do Right' By AC/DC Fans

Axl Rose is set to make his debut with AC/DC at a gig in Lisbon this weekend, as he stands in for lead vocalist Brian Johnson.

The Guns N' Roses frontman has said he isn't "dancing around" the commitment, and acknowledged he is joining the band "because of an unfortunate circumstance".

Rose was announced as a replacement after Johnson, 68, was warned he risked "total hearing loss" if he continued to tour.

AC/DC were forced to reschedule dates on their Rock or Bust tour - and now, the veteran group is back on the road after concluding rehearsals with Rose.

In a new video ahead of his debut with lead guitarist Angus Young and bass guitarist Cliff Williams, Axl Rose said: "I hadn't fully listened to certain things.

"I'd sing part of Back In Black in the car but I'd never tried to sing the songs fully.

"I'd sing a little bit of Shoot To Thrill but you always knew it was a really tough song to sing, and I'd never tried to do it professionally.

"It's a challenge … I want to do right by the band and the fans."

Johnson has said he is "personally crushed" not to be continuing with the tour, but has insisted he is not retiring.

Following the show in Portugal, AC/DC will continue with live performances across Europe - including one in London at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 4 June, and at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on 9 June.
