Recognise This Slimmed Down Hollywood Star?

Thor star Chris Hemsworth has shocked his fans after revealing his dramatic weight loss for his latest film role.

The Australian actor, 32, posted a photo to Instagram showing his new, slimmed-down physique.

"Just tried a new diet/training program called "Lost At Sea". Wouldn't recommend it.. #IntheHeartoftheSea," he wrote.

Hemsworth is best known for playing Marvel's superhero Thor and put on 20 pounds of muscle when he auditioned for the role.

But he is thought to have go on a strict 500 calories a day diet to prepare for In The Heart Of The Sea.

The film is set in 1820 when a whaling ship's crew are stranded at sea for 90 days after their boat is destroyed by a sperm whale.

With his long beard, sunken eyes and shaggy hair, Hemsworth bears a striking resemblance to Tom Hanks when he lost weight for Castaway.

In The Heart Of The Sea is directed by Ron Howard and is released in the UK on Christmas Day.
