Tottenham fans have been eager to refute Karren Brady's claims that West Ham have bragging rights over them after Spurs tonked the Hammers 4-1 on Sunday.
In a column in the Sun the West Ham vice-chairman had said that regardless of results between the clubs, West Ham had bragging rights over Tottenham thanks to the former's imminent move to the Olympic Stadium and the endorsement of that move by London's mayor, Boris Johnson.
Brady wrote: "Of course we want to beat Spurs on Sunday but the London Mayor's praise is worthier bragging rights."
Supporters' dry-witted responses included references to the "hollow victory" that consolidated Tottenham's position in fifth, three points above West Ham in sixth. The two had only been separable by goal difference prior to kick-off.
Great performance. Great result. Great goals. Great win. Karren Brady does rent the Olympic stadium though so today's been 50:50 in my book

You were right @karren_brady, I'm in bits. Yeah we won 4-1, but it's a hollow victory without Boris Johnson's praise. End this torture #COYS

One Spurs devotee thanked Brady for the pep talk that had evidently fired up the home side, while a more forgiving fan invited the former Birmingham City director to revisit her column if she so wished.
I'd like to thank Karren Brady for the motivational talk she gave during the week. Seems it's all we needed. #COYS

Tottenham and West Ham contested the right to rent the Olympic Stadium in its post-Olympic incarnation, with the Hammers having won and set to begin a new chapter in their history there as of the start of next season.
The battle raised tensions between the two clubs, however, with three men fined at one point for spying on West Ham's bid – though Tottenham denied any knowledge of their illegal behaviour.
@karren_brady at least you got the bragging rights to a stadium you don't own #losers

Karren Brady can keep her stadium as far as I'm concerned. I'll have the win and a performance like this... https://t.co/gO7vLRNsuc #COYS

Tottenham's own plans for a new ground have advanced significantly since their tussle with West Ham for the Olympic Stadium, and they haven't been shy in bragging about that too – and why not.
New stadium photos look great! Looking forward to get back for pre-season #COYS'#thatissomethingelse #23 http://pic.twitter.com/zFDgS1bYU6

West Ham have got plenty to be pleased with so far this season, claiming some excellent scalps away from home in particular.
But the Hammers' board have received a reminder of just how much individual matches against rival sides matter to the fans – over and above what's going on off the field.
