Barcelona have released a player just hours after signing him, citing offensive tweets discovered by fans that the player had posted two years ago.
Sergi Guardiola was not a Barcelona player for long once his new supporters found his comments on Twitter from 2013, backing Real Madrid and insulting Catalonia.
It was at best a mixed Monday for the 24-year-old, who has since apologised and blamed a friend for posting the tweets.

Guardiola said: "It was a misunderstanding. I didn’t write those tweets. It was in 2013 and I didn’t know they were there. I wouldn’t be able to do something like that.
"The situation is screwed up. I apologise to Barcelona and Catalonia. Barca have been very good to me and I understand the decision. I beg their pardon. I’ve learned a hard lesson.
"I’m from Mallorca, I’m not anti-Catalan or anti-anything. My dream was to be with Barca, and now that’s truncated. Once you become a professional, you want to play for the best team and that’s Barca.
The tweet from Sergi Guardiola that probably did the most damage
"I’m going to train at Jumilla, to my house, and then we’ll see what happens."
The Catalan club had given the player an eighteen-month deal after Guardiola was released by Alcorcón, and he was set to join their 'B' team in the Spanish third-tier.
The tweets included several uses of the "Hala Madrid" rallying cry favoured by fans of Barcelona's eternal rivals, Real Madrid.
If that sat uncomfortably with some Barca aficionados, Guardiola's "f*** Catalonia" comment caused the broadest offence.
The newly unemployed 24-year-old has previously played for Eldense, Novelda and Jumilla after coming through the ranks at Lorca.
The player is no relation to his slightly more famous namesake, former Barcelona player and manager Pep Guardiola.

Twitter had little sympathy for Guardiola in his swift return to the jobs market.

It remains to be seen where Guardiola will next ply his trade – and indeed whether he has any more skeletons in his closet, or abusive friends on his phone.
