BALI has long been a popular destination for Aussie travellers and it’s not hard to see why.
With its perfect mix of lush natural scenery and wild night-life, all at a very reasonable price, there really is something for everyone in this tropical local.
We asked six travel bloggers to let us in on their favourite Bali places.
BINGIN
Victoria from Pommie Travels: “I love Bingin because of its laid-back surfer vibe. It seems a million miles away from the super touristy area of Kuta and the luxury resorts of Seminyak.
“Located on the Bukit Peninsula, Bingin is basically a reef break with a quiet, hidden beach and wooden shacks built into the cliff face. Accommodation is cheap and you get to wake up to a view of the ocean.”

UBUD
Alexandra from Alex in Wanderland: “Granted, I haven’t seen much of the beautiful island of Bali, but a few days in Ubud was enough to make me fall in love. A gorgeous hotel, a nearby yoga studio, cheap and charming spas, and cute cafes? I was sold.
“I also loved the opportunities for adventure, from getting lost on a motorbike in search of the perfect rice terrace to white water rafting through the lush jungle.”
NUSA LEMBONGAN ISLAND
Amanda and Chris from Almost Landing: Bali: “We love Nusa Lembongan Island, because it truly feels like an escape. Although tourism is definitely present, the island is still quiet and people are few and far between. The locals are friendly and go about their day as they normally would, unaffected by the tourist who may pass by.

“There’s so much to explore, which is fun to do by scooter. Stop off at pristine beaches, remote green fields with views for miles, and small beachside restaurants. Explore old abandoned temples, ride through lush green forest, or discover the neighbouring islands.
“This place is an awesome mix of relaxation, culture and amazing landscape. Only a short boat ride from the mainland of Bali. What we really love about Nusa Lembongan, is we really feel like we are exploring, seeing an untouched place and things that are new to our eyes.”

AMED
Lash from LashWorldTour: “Amed lays along Bali’s arid far northeast coast. It consists of a series of beautiful little beach-lined bays separated by scruffy headlands. Each bay has a traditional fishing village which is still full of local families, traditional Balinese wooden outrigger sailboats and small farms along steep hillsides.
“Nowadays several small boutique resorts with gardens and Balinese-style bungalows are nestled unobtrusively amid the villages. Just offshore sits Bali’s most gorgeous reefs, great for snorkelling and diving.
“Amed is awesome because it is quiet and chilled. It’s far from the madding tourist crowd down south and offers a slice of real traditional Bali along with fantastic reefs, gorgeous coastal scenery, delicious food and charming resorts. Amed is a fantastic place to chill out, enjoy nature and get to know locals. But it’s not the place for people looking for lively night life.”
KINTAMANI VILLAGE
Nick from Goats On The Road: “This amazing little village is set right on the western edge of the larger caldera wall of Gunung Batur in Bali, Indonesia. We stayed in a lovely little guesthouse which was perched on the hillside and enjoyed stunning views of the nearby volcano.
“Every morning when the sun would come up, we would sit on our patio and watch as the rice paddies, lake and valley walls came to life with brilliant greens and blues as the day began. A quick stroll or bike ride through town felt authentic with farmers tilling fields, woman carrying fruit on their heads and children playfully skipping their way to and from school.
“Bali can feel overcrowded in some places, but Kintamani was blissfully calm and beautiful.”

QUAD BIKING & CANYON TUBING, JUST NORTH OF UBUD
Erin from Travel With Bender: “Imagine a jungle adventure like no other. This place has it all. You start the day with a quad bike tour through the tropical jungles of Bali and quaint villages. It’s a deliciously muddy ride that is both scenic and thrilling.
“Once you’re hot and sweaty you return the bikes and head even deeper into the dense jungle. Somewhere vehicles cannot reach. Steep winding steps bring you down the canyon, past a stunning waterfall, across a wooden bridge and to a small river. The guides place inflatable tubes in the water and, after a less-than-graceful boarding, you’re gliding above the water.
“Some places are fast and flowing like white water rapids — try not to fall out as you crash down those mini falls. Other portions are slow-paced and relaxing as you soak up the birds, flowers and the constant shades of green drifting by.
“There are some places where the river isn’t accessible by tube so hold on tight for a zip line adventure. It’s a beautiful and invigorating day in one of the most scenic parts of Bali. You won’t regret this voyage, which is a world apart from the typical shopping or massage days in bustling Kuta.”
