Manchester United fans can buy Jose Mourinho scarves outside Old Trafford

If Louis van Gaal thought things could not get much worse at Manchester United, he should probably avoid the merchandise stalls outside Old Trafford today.

Hawkers eager to cash in on the United manager's desperate plight are already selling scarves depicting the face of his potential replacement Jose Mourinho ahead of tonight's crucial game against Chelsea.

At least he can rest assured that most of the reaction to the scarves going on sale - and it should be stressed that this is unofficial merchandise - has been negative.
