Twitter has launched a new feature in the UK called Moments, which is aimed at helping users keep track of breaking stories and trending topics.
The social network describes it as the "best of what's happening on Twitter in an instant", and the feature appears on the desktop site as well as its iOS and Android apps.
People can follow specific stories to get constant updates in real-time from 18 launch partners including Sky News.
Users who click on the Moments lightning bolt tab initially see a page called 'Today' which features breaking and trending tweets.
Swiping left and right brings up different categories including news, entertainment and sport.
Explaining Moments after its launch in the US in October, product manager Madhu Muthukumar said: "Every day, people share hundreds of millions of tweets.
"We know finding these only-on-Twitter moments can be a challenge, especially if you haven't followed certain accounts. But it doesn't have to be."
He added: "For stories that update very frequently - like live sporting events or awards shows where it's critical to know what's happening minute by minute - you'll see an option to follow the Moment, which blends the tweets directly into your timeline."
But not everyone is a fan of the new feature - partly because the button for it on the app sits on the spot where people used to check their notifications.
Daniel Halawi posted: "What is this Moments thing on Twitter? I keep pressing it because it's where notifications button was. Argh, annoying."
