THE best hotel in the world has been named by TripAdvisor at their annual Travellers’ Choice awards.
The impressive Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur in India took out top spot for 2016, it’s one of the last great palaces of India and one of the largest private residences in the world. Built between 1928 and 1643, the impressive property is not just a hotel, but a museum as well as being the main residence of the Jodhpur Royal Family. The hotel hosted the wedding of model and actress Liz Hurley to Indian businessman Arun Nayahad in 2007 who later divorced in 2011.
According to TripAdvisor, an average stay is $1055.77 per night and the most affordable month to visit is July when it drops to $561 per night.

Shinta Mani Resort in Siem Reap, Cambodia took out second place with a much cheaper nightly rate of $286. Followed by the Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento, Italy where an average stay will set you back $808 per night.
The top 10 luxury hotels in Australia were also named with Saffire Freycinet in Coles Bay, Tasmania taking out first place with an average rate of $2248.78 per night.
