The internet has lauded Joe Allen as Andrea Pirlo's rightful heir after a genius no-look assist for Liverpool.
Since Joe Allen chose to grow his facial hair and let his luscious mane run free the Welsh midfielder has frequently been likened to Andrea Pirlo.
Before tonight however the likeness has merely been an aesthetic one, with the Welshman's Liverpool career on the pitch blighted by injury and a lack of first team opportunities under Brendan Rodgers.
However Allen has been given a new lease of life under new manager Jurgen Klopp who has been keen to make use of Allen's energy, and 37 minutes into Liverpool's Capital One Cup semi against Stoke, Allen looked to have repaid his manager's faith.
When Roberto Firmino's cross landed at the feet of Allen the midfielder looked to have scuffed his attempted shot, however the ball then fortuitously fell into the path of Jordon Ibe who calmly passed the ball past Jack Butland.
Many mocked Allen for the feeble attempt, but most saw the piece of play for what it was: an incredible no-look assist.
Allen actually looks to his side before and after the ball goes to Ibe. I'm thinking its a genius assist https://t.co/riz50Akhrm

Joe Allen joined Liverpool in 2012 in a £15m move from Swansea and was a prominent member of Great Britain's Olympic team captained by Ryan Giggs.
Yet despite lauding Allen as the 'Welsh Xavi', Brendan Rodgers largely utilised Allen as a sub before he was eventually fired in October last year.
