THIS shocking photograph shows the moment a daredevil diver made the crazy decision to lean out of a cage and attempt to pat a great white shark on the nose.

Three scuba divers were photographed by 47-year-old Dmitry Vasyanovich, from Russia, at Guadalupe Island in Mexio, a destination known for its great white encounters.

The divers were pictured teasing the beast with bait as they tried to capture its attention.

At one point the shark knocks the cage as it attempts to grab the bait that is hanging precariously from the cage. The cage swings from side to side in the ocean.

But this does not deter the divers as it is then that one brave — or perhaps stupid — diver wedges his body between the bars of the cage so that he can attempt to touch the shark. The other two divers watch on from within the cage.
