Guus Hiddink has hinted that he will blood more of Chelsea’s youngsters if the club’s season is effectively written off this week.
Positive results in both games will fuel belief that Chelsea can salvage what has been a turbulent season, but defeats would leave the club contemplating a trophyless campaign without European qualification.

Hiddink is hopeful of keeping Chelsea’s season alive, but suggested he already has plans for how to effectively use the rest of the campaign should things go wrong.
The Dutchman has already given chances to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Bertrand Traore since taking over as interim manager, while 18-year-old defender Jake Clarke-Salter has been promoted to the first team and travelled with the squad to Paris.

“This is a key week as to whether we go in a nice flow into the next round of the FA Cup, go further in the Champions League or the other scenario is there,” said Hiddink.
“We need to see what the near future can bring with some big experiments and see what can be done with younger players who are knocking on the door.
“I am happy youngsters are now coming up at this club. I was happy with Traore who worked so hard in training, so he deserved to come in, so I was happy he made his goal. It’s a signal now that young players have the opportunity to make an impact.”
Other than Loftus-Cheek, Traore and Clarke-Salter, Hiddink could look at Kenedy, January signing Matt Miazga and Ola Aina over the final games of the season if Chelsea drop out of the Champions League and the FA Cup.
