The daughter of The Godfather actor Abe Vigoda has said her family feels cheated after he was left out of a memorial sequence at the Oscars.
Vigoda died, aged 94, in January and was well-known for playing the long-time friend of mob boss Vito Corleone, Sal Tessio.
His character meets his demise in the 1972 classic after the kingpin's son suspects a plot to betray the family.
"Abe's family feels disappointed and cheated by the Academy," said Carol Vigoda Fuchs.
"Abe gave his life and heart to acting, and a simple tribute in recognition of his devotion was overlooked."
The Academy remembered to include Alex Rocco in the montage, who played casino owner Moe Green in the same film.
Rocco, who died in July afed 79, was among nearly 50 actors included in the sequence.
Vigoda's success in The Godfather led to numerous roles, most notably his comic turn as Detective Fish on the hit TV series Barney Miller.
He picked up three supporting-actor Emmy nominations for his popular portrayal of the grumpy and deadpan detective.
His daughter said she hopes the Emmys TV awards will honour her father later in the year.
"But that's still no excuse," she said. "The Academy made a mistake. It's an injustice."
The Academy has so far not commented on the matter.
