Richard Gere has joined a growing list of Hollywood stars who have expressed their concern at the popularity of Donald Trump.
The billionaire property magnate and reality television star is steadily increasing his approval from Republican voters as he sweeps through various presidential primaries in the US.
Mr Trump took seven of the 11 US states available on Super Tuesday earlier this week and seems almost unstoppable in the race to be the Republican Party's presidential nominee.
Speaking in London, Gere said: "You can't ignore him: this is a guy who may well be the Republican nominee.
"As a person I don't think he's that interesting.
"What is interesting is: why would so many people be willing to support him knowing that he represents all these horrible things? That's mind-boggling."
Trump's policies include "bomb(ing) the hell out of ISIS", building a wall to stop illegal immigration from Mexico and a short-term ban on Muslim immigrants to the US.
Gere, 66, said he did not blame Mr Trump for the way he appeared to have struck a chord with voters, adding that he blamed "us".
He said: "We have something inside of us that is almost completely ignorant of emotional realities on this planet."
Other actors, including Whoopi Goldberg and Samuel L Jackson, have said they would consider moving to another country if Mr Trump became president.
For comedian Jon Stewart, even another country would not be far enough. He told last year's Emmys: "I would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet, because clearly this planet's gone bonkers".
Actress Jennifer Lawrence told People magazine last year: "If Donald Trump becomes President, that will be the end of the world."
