WHAT was meant to be a short flight turned into a nightmare scenario for passengers on a SpiceJet plane.

Flight SG487 was due to travel from Mumbai to Kolkata — a mere two hour trip — last Sunday but technical issues forced an emergency landing at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, India.

Unfortunately for the unlucky passengers, the airline doesn’t usually stop there and no support or ground staff were available. They had to fly in a mechanic, the Times of India reported.

Instead of letting the 190 passengers out into the airport and booking them into a hotel, the airline allegedly forced them to stay on-board the aircraft overnight.

One of the stranded passengers suffered a heart problem and had to be taken off the plane via ambulance. His condition is understood not to be life threatening.

Unhappy passengers took to social media to vent their frustrations, with one Twitter user saying there was “no water, food, airport help”.

The plane left the airport the following morning.
