A woman claims her husband conducted an affair over Airbnb.
A HEARTBROKEN tourist has told how an Airbnb host stole her husband of 30 years in a “twisted form of internet dating”.
The American woman, who asked to remain anonymous, was visiting Auckland, New Zealand, with her husband last year and the pair decided to rent an Airbnb for the trip.
The woman never considered their “unusually solicitous and intrusive” host a threat and says she considered her marriage “imperfect but solid”.
However after their week-long stay the tourist’s husband, who had arrived a few days before she did, stayed on for an extra seven days, during which time he and the host “got to know each other better”.
Despite previously claiming the middle-aged woman was “sad and needy” after she shared personal details about herself and past relationships with him, the pair started having an affair after his wife left, the New Zealand Herald reported.
The heartbroken woman, who is now divorcing her ex-husband, described the affair as a “complete shock”.
Her ex-husband and the Airbnb host are still in a relationship following the devastating fling that began last Autumn.
Shockingly she believes what happened to her is not uncommon, and thinks Airbnb could be a way of connecting strangers in the intimate setting of someone’s home.
She said: “I doubt I will ever use Airbnb again because of the bad memories I have about the experience. It turned out to be a twisted form of internet dating in my case.”
