David de Gea, the Manchester United goalkeeper, appears set to make his dream move back to Spain after Real Madrid said they would sign the 25-year-old in the summer.
After missing out on the former Atlético Madrid goalkeeper in August, Real Madrid have made their intentions clear: “Real Madrid will not attempt to sign David De Gea in the January window," a club spokesman said. "But the club is proposed to sign him in the summer for next season.”
After staying at Old Trafford last summer following a prolonged battle for his services, De Gea signed a new four-year contract with United which is understood to include a £36-million release clause.
Another player United are understood to be interested in is Riyad Mahrez, the Leicester City winger, according to a report in the Daily Star.

The Algeria international, though, has suggested he wants to complete the season with Claudio Ranieri’s side who currently sit two points clear of Arsenal on the top of the Premier League table.
Mahrez, 24, joined Leicester for £400,000 from Le Havre almost two years ago but is now valued at around £25m.
January transfer window opens in
Mauricio Pochettino, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, meanwhile, has said striker Harry Kane is "not for sale" after the England international was linked with a move to Old Trafford.
United's strikeforce of Wayne Rooney, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial has struggled this season and Kane, who has scored 11 Premier League goals this season, would be the ideal man to end their goal drought.

However, Pochettino remains determined to keep hold of his most valuable striker. "There is no price. No-one can buy him," Pochettino said. "He is not for sale. There is not a value because it is impossible to put a price."
