Sylvester Stallone is working with US television network Fox to create a show based on his iconic Rambo films.
The actor, who starred as a Vietnam war veteran, will be an executive producer on the project.
The new programme will "explore the complex relationship" between John Rambo and his son JR, a former Navy SEAL.
Fox has ordered a script for the show, called Rambo: New Blood, which would be a one-hour drama if picked up by the network.
It was written by Jeb Stuart, who wrote the screenplays for Die Hard and the 1993 film version of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford.
A Fox spokesman said casting decisions for the show had not yet been made.
Stallone is reported to be planning a fifth Rambo movie, called Rambo: Last Blood and he has reprised his other most famous role as Rocky Balboa in the new film Creed which is in cinemas now.
