THE WORLD is home to many surreal places, where colours are not what they should be and rock formations form shapes that you can see nowhere else.
A Quora user recently took to the question-and-answer website to ask: “What are the most surreal places to visit?”
Here are some of the most incredible places they discussed.

Quinta da Regaleira is an estate located near the historic centre of Sintra, Portugal. The large grounds surrounding the estate contain an extensive and enigmatic system of tunnels. SALAR DE UYUNI, BOLIVIA
Salar de Uyuni, amid the Andes in southwest Bolivia, is the world’s largest salt flat. It’s the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desertlike landscape of bright-white salt, rock formations and cacti-studded islands.

THE WAVE, ARIZONA, USA
The Wave is a sandstone rock formation located in Arizona, United States near its northern border with Utah. Australia has it’s very own wave rock located in Western Australia. The Aussie Wave Rock is a natural rock formation that is about 14m high and around 110m long. It forms the north side of a solitary hill, which is known as “Hyden Rock”.
MO’YNOQ, UZBEKISTAN
One Quora user wrote that they believe Mo’ynoq is the most surreal place on earth.
“The sea disappeared, leaving a tiny community that includes an armada of ships ... sitting all over town on dry, desert-like land. Lots of big, rusted old ships scattered around like something the aliens left behind in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
