What's their transfer budget?

January transfer window closes in
Who's in charge of deals?
Head of recruitment Paul Mitchell is Mauricio Pochettino’s eyes and ears when it comes to transfer targets, but chairman Daniel Levy still deals with the financial details and negotiations.
January transfer history
Poor. Steven Pienaar, Louis Saha, Ryan Nelsen and Lewis Holtby all arrived in January transfer windows but failed to make an impact. Tottenham’s best piece of January business over recent years was to agree the deal for Dele Alli to arrive this summer.
What they need
A striker. Tottenham’s good start to the season could be wasted if Harry Kane suffers injury or burn-out and Pochettino has nobody to turn to. The apparent need for a defensive midfielder has been made less urgent by the form of converted defender Eric Dier.
What they'll get
Recent history suggests Levy will not spend big in January, but he can surely not risk potential Champions League qualification by gambling on a has-been or a kid.
Key targets
Tottenham desperately tried to sign Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion and will no doubt have another go for the striker. The club have also scouted Belgian forward Laurent Depoitre regularly this season.
Who could leave
Andros Townsend has fallen out of favour since his public row with a fitness coach and Crystal Palace are interested in the winger. Otherwise, Pochettino will be more interested in keeping his squad together than selling players.
