Musician Colin Vearncombe, known as Black, only has a "slim chance of pulling through" and surviving his brain injuries, according to his management.
His family urged supporters and friends to send "healing and positive energy" to him following his car accident in Ireland on 10 January.
Vearncombe, 53, was put in a coma after suffering a serious head injury near Cork Airport, where he was driving to catch a flight to Edinburgh from his home in Schull.
His management said Black's wife, Camilla, and three sons had been at his bedside since the accident.
"Scans have revealed that the injuries to his brain are worse than we feared and that he has only a slim chance of pulling through," a statement said.
"He is in a stable condition, which is being managed by the amazing staff of the intensive treatment unit, with his family by his side.
"More scans are scheduled for Friday morning, however it is clear that if we are going to see an improvement, we will need a miracle.
It added: "Colin's wife Camilla has asked that anyone who wants to, to send collective healing and positive energy to Colin particularly between 12pm and 2pm today [Wednesday], in the hope of the miracle we need.
"If you miss this time, no matter - your thoughts are still very welcome.
"We would ask that the family are given space to deal with these difficult times in private."
Hundreds of fans have written messages on the musician's website and fans who want to offer their support are asked to email blacklist@colinvearncombe.com.
Black gained international success in 1987 with the song Wonderful Life and has released 15 albums, as well as published poetry and held exhibitions of his paintings.
Originally from Liverpool, he has lived in the Irish Republic for the past 10 years.
He is due to become a grandfather for the first time on St Patrick's Day.
